The locomotive runs forwards and backwards as intended. Gold colored emblems with "Lionel" & "No. 4 Bild -A- Loco" on them and are on both sides of the door. On the bottom is a bell and a plaque on the wheel housing that reads " "Lionel "O" Gauge" Bild -A- Loco Patents Pending Lionel Corporation N.Y.". There is a bulb light on the front that works. On one side is a lever to change the trains direction from forward to backward. The box has a shipping label on it. - Midget Toy Transformer -IMPORTANT - This transformer WAS NOT USED while testing the trains so it is UNCERTAIN as to whether or not it functions properly. Imprinted on the cover is "100 To 120V. 50 To 133 CY." On the metal plaque it reads in part "Midget Toy Transformer 75 Watts .... Jefferson Electric Company, Chicago". The lever moves as intended. The fabric covered cord is approximately 6' feet long. - Flaws for the Toy Transformer - Metal toning & wear, surface scratches, - some with color loss, light surface rust. No tears on the power cord. - Flaws for the locomotive - There are light scratches- some resulted in spotty paint loss, mainly on the roof and the red on the wheels. Metal toning including the gold colored railings, for the casings on the lights, wheels and the wheel housing. Light surface rust, the housing for the light is missing a few edges. Lionel Trains 773-10 Hudson Steam Locomotive Engine 2426 Tender Car Postwar VTGLionel brand die-cast O gauge locomotive with Tender car.The engine is a model 773-10.The Tender Car is a model 2426W.Black in color with white lettering Pre owned vintage. From the estate of a personal friend, born in 1944 - these were his childhood toys. Appears clean and in good condition. I have no way to test for proper operation. Both pieces have been wrapped and stored in a box in a garage for some time. The only visible flaw I see is that a hinge pin is missing from the bottom hinge on the door to the headlight compartment at the front of the locomotive. The prewar and postwar era trains come in black and a 1:45 scale, with an analog control system, and are made in the United States. The set includes everything in the photo and is sold as a complete unit. The original owner kept the toys in good working condition. Below are additional notes from my husband. His father was the original owner:The Lionel Train Set is from the prewar era and also includes several post-war additions to the set. Most of the additions to the set are a train Switch Engine and train cars from Lionel offered in the 1960s. Also, the original transformer was replaced with an ungraded transformer from that same time period, the 1960s. The original set was my father's, and I believe is from the year 1938 to 1940. The set has been kept in cold dry storage for some 50 years. Growing up my brother and I spent countless joy-filled hours building and playing with the set. To my knowledge, all the engines and tenders were solid and performed well. Same with most cars. I do know some needed minor repairs when they were placed in storage. As for the the accessories to the set I remember in general they did work, however, they needed to be rewired as the insulation to the wiring was beginning to come off the wires due to old age at that time. I considered rewiring as needed but chose not to because if I were buying, I would prefer to have the set as original, and not be reworking someone else's fix. The rewiring of items is simple and straightforward and once accomplished one can expect years of trouble-free electrical problems. The set itself is in good, to very good, condition considering how old it is. There are no original boxes. There are some minor scratches here and there, but nothing I noticed really stood out as being a deal killer. There isno rust. I believe anything that may need minor repair, or has a missing part or piece, is still with the set and packaged separately. Not many things in there. Just want to be transparent as possible. The last issue I can remember is I don't recall seeing any of the small copper clips that attach between rail pieces on the center rail. Those are for the set of tracks that's post-war that has the railroad ties attached to the track. The clip completes the connection track to track which completes the electrical circuit. It's possible that it's there but not certain. I found them on eBay for 0.99 cents each. I will enclose the link under a separate cover.The separate Lumber Mill Building did have a problem. The red rooftop was broken when we opened the set from storage. I did fix that problem by 3D printing an exact copy of that roof with red filament. It looks just like the original roof. After opening and going through the set after 50 years, I was very surprised. It was exactly how I remembered it. I really can't get over how good the quality of everything was considering it was mostly fabricated a little more the 80 years ago. There was a lot of attention to detail. It really withstood the test of time. I really wanted to sell the set complete so it could be enjoyed as we knew it. Thank you for keeping all that magic and fun alive.
