This Extremely Rare Lionel 1587S Girls' Set was originally sold in 1957 and 1958. It was an attempt to broaden the appeal of toy trains to girls by offering a train with a pink engine and tender and several pastel colored freight cars. The attempt failed; not many were sold; and pastel colors were mostly discontinued. Today, it is one of the most valued Lionel sets in existence.
